It was a gorgeous spring day on Thursday and I walked the stretch of coastal path from Holyhead Marina to north stack with two friends. The sea was gorgeous blue-green, the sky blue and the sun hot hurray!!
All the spring flowers which have been held back by the cold weather are now coming out all at once, creating a fabulous mix of bluebells, violets, sea pinks, spring squill, campion and primroses to name a few. We saw gannets offshore, chough and several rows of guillemots and fulmars on the cliffs at north stack.
After our walk we went to the Marina cafe, where it was hot enough to sit outside and enjoy coffee and cake. It could have been the south of France, with the yachts in the harbour and turquoise-blue sea.
I then walked on the new Celtic Gateway bridge in Holyhead town centre and had great views of two black guillemots in the harbour.
This is an amazing place, despite Holyhead’s economic woes it is a truly stunning area to live in with fantastic nature and landscape, even in the town centre.
Bookings are coming in for the challenge walks next weekend, but there are still some places left, if you would like to book.
